Best for the money
by .. Li Fan (Chicago, IL)
You can't get anything better than this for it's price. I've got mine with the quick release plate MH-657(which features a Arca-type plate holder for better compatibility).
I upgraded from a tilt and panning head to this ball head, and I think I just saved myself a heck load of trouble. The Giottos 1300 head got three knobs, one for tight/lose the ball, one for tight/lose the horizontal panning, and one for adjusting ball tension when the ball is lose. Adjustment is very easy, you just lose the knob, set camera to any angle you want, tighting the knob, bam -- you are done.
It's very durable and with good craftsmanship. Supports 20lb of weight.
I highly recommend this to people who's in the market looking for a reliable ball head to replace their old fashioned panning/tilting heads. With this money you can only get a small Bogen head that only supports 12lb of weight, go figure.
